Swim Academy
This is entry level for Broxburn ASC swimmers. This ranges from a progression through Improvers 1, 2 and 3+ following assessment by teachers and swimmers achieving set skills and goals. This section of our club has the highest ratio of teachers to swimmers ensuring a safe and continued progression to squad swimming.

Junior Squad
This squad offers increased training after gaining basic swim skills and progression from our Swim Academy programme. Swimmers develop the fundamentals and have an introduction to racing skills needed to compete in competition. Sessions are skills intensive with a view to progression to the top squad.

Swim West Lothian Potential
The Swim West Lothian Potential squad is for swimmers who show good skills across all strokes and an eagerness to progress in swimming. Expectation is a positive attitude and commitment to training and competition. High attendance level is expected with a view of swimmers training to achieve East District qualification levels. This also leads to progression to Swim West Lothian pathway which offers performance and Scottish National Age Group potential.

Masters
Our Masters squad consists of swimmers who wish to improve their technique, fitness at a level which suits their ability. You can start at any age as swimming is a sport for life. This squad consists of ex-competitive swimmers and leisure swimmers who have other commitments such as education or simple family life. The choice to compete at Masters levels is also provided with coaching to achieve this.

Push off wall in streamline position on back and spin onto front
Jump across pool using fly arms
Kick legs in streamline position on front/back for 20 metres
Full stroke Breast stroke for 20 metres
Single arm fly with undulation for 15 metres
Front crawl with bi-lateral breathing for 20 metres
Full stroke back crawl for 20 metres
Scull on back head/feet first for 20 metres
Kick legs in streamline position on front/back for 25 metres
Full stroke Breast stroke with correct timing for 25 metres
Front crawl with bi-lateral breathing for 25 metres
Back crawl with rotation for 25 metres
Turns for each stroke
100m I.M with all legal turns and attempt underwater phase
Front crawl for 100m with tumble turns and underwater phase
Back crawl for 100m with correct turns and underwater phase
Breaststroke for 100m with correct turns and pull-out
Butterfly for 50m with correct turns and underwater phase
Knowledge of pace clock
